Look What the Cat Drug Home

In my newsfeed today, I learned that the world’s deadliest feline is the African Black Footed Cat.  Weighing only 2-6 pounds (my last cat, Earl, weighed 16 pounds), this cute little critter makes about 20 kills a night:  birds, rodents, and other small animals.  It can jump five feet in the air to catch anything flying away.  They are an endangered species. But darn—they’re cute.  Who would think this face is anything but innocent?

Insider Report

  • I had a lovely visit today—meeting Shirlene Cole and Joan Highland at Heritage Woods for the first time.  Also I got a chance to meet Darlene Standerfer who is residing at Sullivan Health Care. Thanks to Lois, Ann, and Laura for making introductions for me—and for preparing and sharing communion during those visits.
  • If you have someone who is homebound or lives in a facility that is important to you, please arrange to take me to visit them.
  • I continue to enjoy my appointments with people who are scheduling times to stop by the church and get acquainted with me.  These times are informal and meander into whatever topics you want to talk about. I am currently putting names on my calendar for next week:  Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • The Tuesday Traveling Dinner Fellowship (informal) was held last night at a Mexican Restaurant in Mattoon.  A joyful evening of food and fellowship.  Ask Ray Burrus for more information if you’d like to get in on it.
  • We held our first “Commission on Ministries” meeting this morning at 11.  The second one is at 7 p.m. this evening.  I’ll write a report on those meetings for tomorrow’s post.
  • The following items are on my desk for review:  policies on facilities usage for members and non-members and profit and non-profit groups; wedding policy, purchasing policies, and staff job descriptions.  If you have had any experiences or concerns with these matters, please contact me in the next week or so—we can talk.  After I’m finished with those reviews, they will go to the proper administrative committee for review and action.
