Sullivan UMC—J. Michael Smith
WARNING:
Due to troubles with the Watts Copy Machine Company—we will not have a February newsletter going out today or a worship bulletin this Sunday. The newsletter stuff will appear in my daily post over the next week. Come around on Sunday and see how we used to do worship before there were copy machines or mimeograph contraptions.
NEWS ITEM
Jennifer Love has been elected to the position of Church Treasurer by the Church Council. She follows Bob Lane, who resigned the position in order to stay in compliance with the Book of Discipline, which requires a checks and balances between the Finance Chair (Bob), the Financial Secretary (Yvonne Workman), and the Church Treasurer (now Jennifer.) Do not worry about Bob having nothing to do, however, as I have given him 12 new tasks in his role of Finance Committee Chair. Thank you to Jennifer for accepting this position. Her main job will be to process and pay all disbursements and provide regular financial reports to the congregation.
THIS SUNDAY AT WORSHIP
The sermon is on “Joy.” Scripture is Psalm 98. This is the second sermon in a series on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Praise Team music at 9:30: “I’ve Got the Joy, Joy, Joy,” “Blessed Assurance,” and “If I Got Jesus.”
11 a.m. music: Hymns “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee,” “Rejoice, the Lord is King,” and “Marching to Zion.” Special music (Bonnie and Chip) “The Trees of the Field—You Will Go Out with Joy.”
We will also have a special time of blessing for MaryAnn Hecht as she prepares this week to leave for one of the mission trips to Honduras.
We will have communion at both worship services. Everyone in the room is always welcome at the communion table in our church.

NOTE
Since we are unable to print our newsletter for now, here are the anniversaries and birthdays for February. If you or someone you know is NOT on this list, please let either me or Esther or Yvonne know. Below the anniversaries and birthdays is our current list of people who are seldom able to be out and about. These are some of the most precious folks in our church family, and we are all responsible, each in our own way, to make extra efforts to include them in the life of our church. Again, let me (or Esther, or Yvonne) know if there are any corrections or additions.
